Patrick Gallagher and Martina Breslin were married in The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Frosses on Saturday 12th August 2000. Patrick is a son of Phil and Nora Gallagher, Buncrubog, Glenties and Martina is a daughter of Maureen and Denis Breslin, Meenabradan. Fr. John Mc Loone P.P. Frosses assisted by Fr. Adrian Gavigan, Glenties and Fr. Patrick Prendergast P.P. Glenties officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. The bride was given away by her father and was attended by her sisters, Mary and Caroline Breslin and Carol Gallagher, sister of the groom. Terence Gallagher, brother of the groom was bestman and Philip, another brother and a nephew, Seamus Mc Devitt were groomsmen. Readings were by Breda Gallahgher and Denis Breslin, and Prayers of the Faithful were read by Kathleen Gallagher and Patrick Breslin. Breda and Kathleen are Patrick’s sisters and Denis and Patrick are brothers of Martina. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties and the honeymoon was spent touring Ireland.

Congratulations to Hugh Brendan and Rose Mc Dyre, Ard Mc Gill, Glenties who celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary last weekend. Alison organised a surprise party for them in the Limelight.

Congratulations to Anne and John O’Donnell, Killybegs on the birth recently of their third child, a boy, (Jack), a little brother for Roisín and Sara. John is a son of Jack and Nora O’Donnell, Ard Patrick, Glenties.

Congratulations to Breid and Carl Gallagher, Naas, Co. Kildare, on the birth of their baby girl. They now have two boys and two girls. Carl is a son of James and Mary Gallagher, Glen Road, Glenties.

Congratulations to Nora and Charlie Mc Glynn, Edeninfagh, on the birth recently of their first child, a baby boy.

The death took place in Cherry Orchard Hospital, Dublin on Sunday 6th August of Fanny Mc Dermott, Edeninfagh, Glenties. Her remains came to her home on Tuesday evening for waking. Fanny’s son, Fr. Padraig, assisted by Fr. Nigel Ó Gallachóir, Fr. Denis Quinn, Fr. Mc Carron, Fr. Farrell and Fr. John Mc Glynn concelebrated Requiem Mass on Wednesday. Readings were by sons, Donal and Liam. Fanny’s grandchildren read Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by Jim Rafferty and Sinead. Burial took place in the Edeninfagh Cemetery. Five sons, Seamus, Toronto, Fr. Padraig, Mississippi, Donal, Liam, Gerard, Dublin, one daughter, Rosaleen Deery, Dublin, sisters, Annie Maguire, Cassie Mc Glynn, England, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives survive her. Her husband, Con predeceased her in June 1994. Two brothers, Jimmy and Paddy Coyle and one sister, Margaret Mc Menamin also predeceased her. Sincere sympathy is extended to her family and friends.

A Brief History of the Raphoe Diocese by Fr. John J. Silke will be on sale at all Masses next weekend. This very special book is a Jubilee 2000 project for the Diocese of Raphoe and every family and household is encouraged to purchase one. Price is £10.00.

Mass will be celebrated in “The Paupers’ Graveyard behind Ard Patrick on Thursday 24th August at 7.30p.m. and in Kilkenny Graveyard at 3.00p.m. on Sunday 27th August.

There was a very good attendance for Mass and Blessing of Graves in Kilraine Graveyard last Thursday evening and again the Lord blessed us with lovely weather.

Donegal Youth Information Centre, Upper Main Street, Donegal Town are currently offering a telephone help line and drop-in service for Leaving Certificate students and concerned parents, now that the results have been issued. A number of services are also available at the Centre, e.g. college prospectuses, guide to finding accommodation as well as ‘Options 2000’, a free publication. The Centre is open Monday to Friday, 9.30a.m. – 5.00p.m. Tel. 073-23029.
