Narin & Portnoo Golf Club Notes 12th October 2010
The captain took a big crowd up to Ballyliffin for an enjoyable jaunt last weekend, while the thriving Dolmen Society were also on tour. Donie McCole took advantage of the fine conditions in Narin by winning the stroke competition with a nett score of seven under par, three over gross. His first thirteen holes were impressive; one under gross thanks to birdies at nine and thirteen. Glitches at the next two threatened a collapse of sorts but he stabilised the ship to finish with a 66 nett.
John McBride won the latest Wednesday Open by the skin of his teeth from the ever youthful Michael Glynn in second. The former Garda played well going out, accumulating twenty points, and he played the return in level twos.
