Glenties Notes on October 25th 2000
Best wishes to Michael Fitzgerald, Dr. Mc Closkey Crescent, Glenties who will be running his 20th marathon when he takes part in the Dublin Marathon on Monday next 30th October. Over the years Michael has raised a lot of money for various charities and good causes. His chosen charity this year is Irish Cot Deaths and if you wish to support this very worthy cause sponsorship cards are in some shops.
The Millennium Witches Fancy Dress Ball is being held this year again in The Limelight, Glenties next Sunday 29th October so come along and enjoy a great night. Music is by Mary B. and The Monsters and admission is £5. There will be cash prizes for best individual and best group so put on your thinking caps now and be in with a chance of winning a prize on the night.
All who attended last year agreed that it was the best night in Glenties for a long time so it’s up to you to make this year’s Ball another night to remember.
Congratulations to Colette and Eamon Bonner on the birth of their first child, a baby girl. Colette is a daughter of Frankie and Claire Gallagher, Meenahalla, Glenties and Eamon is a son of Michael and Bridie Bonner, Mollyroe, Doochary.
Congratulations again to Colette who recently received her Masters Degree in Food Science.
They are living in England at present but are returning soon to make their home in Doochary.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and sister of Mary Kate Mc Swiggan, Ardconnell, Glenties who died on Thursday last in Letterkenny Hospital.
On Saturday 28th October there will be a Children’s Disco in the Limelight, Glenties from 3p.m. until 5p.m. and the Halloween Ghost Train will be running from Fintown on Sunday 29th October from 2p.m. until 5.30p.m. Come along and enjoy a spin on the train and there are prizes for Best Fancy Dress and Witch Painting.
