Glenties Notes on October 20th 2005
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Sunday 9th October 2005 of Bridie Mulhern, Lugnagillew, Glenties. Her remains were brought to her home on Monday evening and to the Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh on Wednesday. Fr. Denis Quinn P.P. Falcarragh assisted by Fr. Pat Prendergast P.P. Glenties celebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by her niece, Kathleen Breslin and nephew Seamus Clarke. Her nieces, nephews and her Goddaughter read Prayers of the Faithful. Her sister, Kathleen Clarke, brother, John Clarke and his wife Veronica, brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by Sr. Immaculata, Nora Gallagher and Vincent Campbell. Burial took place in the Edeninfagh Graveyard. Bridie’s husband, Patrick predeceased her five years ago. She is survived by three daughters, Bridie, Maureen and Ann, one sister, Kathleen Clarke and one brother, John, sister-in-law, Veronica, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended.
The death took place in Killybegs Community Hospital on Tuesday 11th October 2005 of Barney Keeney, Drimnacrosh, Glenties. His remains were brought to his home on Wednesday and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday. Fr. Paul Gallagher celebrated Requiem Mass. Reading was by Barney’s daughter, Maureen. His other three daughters, Breege, Paula and Clare and his son Ken read Prayers of the Faithful. Breege, Paula, Clare and Martin Mc Hugh brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by Ernan O’Donnell, Anne Marie O’Donnell and Sinead Mc Gavigan. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Barney is survived by his wife, Mary, sons, Neily, Brian, Patsy and Ken, daughters, Maureen, Breege, Clare and Paula, sister, Margaret in Canada, son-in-law William, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Two sisters Annie and Mary Rose predeceased him and his twin brother James died as a child.
The new Swimming Term for the West Coast Swimming Club starts in Letterkenny on Monday November 7th. Children 7 years and over in this school year are welcome to apply. Forms are available in Brennan’s Video Shop, Main Street, Glenties. Applications to be in by Monday October 24th.

The Sacrament of Confirmation for the Parish of Iniskeel will be administered in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Sunday 2nd April 2006 at 11.00a.m.
Congratulations to Anton Dooley and Edel Mc Donnell who were married recently at the Basilica di San Silvestro – in Capite’, Rome. Anton is a son of Tony and Helena Dooley, The Rock. Glenties and Edel is a daughter of Clive and Gertie Mc Donnell, St. Anne’s Park, Raheny, Dublin. The reception was held at The Crowne Plaza Hotel, St. Peters and was attended by guests from Donegal, Dublin and Kilkenny.

Thank you to the Harvest Fair Committee for the donation of €486.67 and to Keeneys Bar for the donation of €260.00 towards the Donegal Hospice. The money was raised during The Harvest Fair Festival.
The Church Gate Collection for Friends of Letterkenny Hospital taken up recently amounted to €660.00. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the collection.

Each Easter over four hundred young people with special needs are accompanied by five hundred adult carers on a very special journey to Lourdes. The Pilgrimage is designed especially for the young people, allowing them to participate fully in a varied spiritual and social programme. All adult carers pay their own fare while the trust covers the full cost of those young people selected to travel. The Trust would welcome applications to travel on the 2006 Pilgrimage from the following – If you are aged 9 – 18 years and have a physical disability or illness, If you are aged 11 – 21 years and have a learning disability, Or seriously ill children under the age of 9 years accompanied by a parent / carer.
