Glenties Notes on February 20th 2001

Congratulations to Angela and James Griffen, Derries, Glenties, on the birth of their baby girl in Letterkenny Hospital on Thursday 15th February 2001. A little sister for Stephen.

Congratulations to Leonard Gildea, who recently graduated from Trinity College with an Honorary Degree in Construction Economics. Leonard is a son of Neily and Teresa Gildea, Kentucky, Ardara and grandson of the late Foncie and Sophia Gildea, Mill Road, Glenties.

Pat Gallagher, Kilraine, Glenties died in Donegal Hospital on Saturday last 17th February. He was waked at his sister Mary Breslin’s home in Kilraine. Fr. Patrick Prendergast P.P. celebrated Requiem Mass on Monday morning. Readings were by a niece and nephew of Pat’s, James Breslin and Dolores Carr. Burial took place in the New Cemetery. His brothers, Neil and Jimmy predeceased him. Jimmy died on the 1st February just over two weeks ago. Two sisters, Mary and Annie, three brothers, John, Connie and Hughie, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended, survive him.
