Glenties Notes on August 15th 2000
Congratulations are due to the following: –
Marion and Frank Mc Guinness, Narin Road, Glenties on the birth recently, of their little girl. They already have two boys, Charles and Paul.
Patrick Gallagher, Buncrubog, Glenties and Martina Breslin who were married in Frosses last Saturday 12th August 2000. Patrick is a son of Phil and Nora Gallagher, Buncrubog.
Donna Mc Groary who graduated recently from the University of Ulster with a BA Hons in Textiles and Fashion. Donna is a daughter of Eamonn and Yvonne Mc Groary, Kilraine.
Terry Mc Hugh, javelin thrower, who has been selected for the Irish team going to the Sydney Olympic Games. Terry is a son of the late Francie Mc Hugh, a native of Stranaglough, Glenties.
Hugh and Mary Sharpe, Loughfad, who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on the 1stAugust. Mary is from Drimalough, Glenties. Congratulations also to their daughter, Evelyn and her husband Tony McKitterick on the birth of their baby son. Evelyn worked for several years in the chemist shop in Glenties.
Next Thursday 17th August, Mass will be celebrated in Kilraine Graveyard at 7.30-p.m. weather permitting.
There was a good crowd at the Mass and Blessing of graves in the Old Graveyard last Thursday evening. Fr. Prendergast and Fr. Gallagher concelebrated. The weather was lovely.
The next Barn Dance, in the Community Centre, Glenties is on Friday 18th August. Music is by ‘Pirrie Men’. Dancing is from 10.00 p.m. and admission is £3.00 supper included.
