Naomh Conaill Table Quiz:
A Table quiz will take place to morrow, Friday 7th February, in Kennedy’s Bar at 9.30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come along to make up a team of 4 and enjoy a great night’s entertainment. Entry is € 20 per team. Come out and support your local club.

Confirmation:
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties, on Sunday18th May at 11.00 a.m.

First Holy Communion:
Children from St. Riaghan’s Drimnacrosh, Kilkenny N.S. and Scoil Mhuire will receive their First Holy Communion at 11.00 a.m. Mass in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 24th May.

Glenties Tidy Towns:
Glenties Tidy Towns are compiling a local information brochure for 2014. All organisations, groups, businesses, and anyone with any local knowledge, is asked to forward their information to Glenties Tidy Towns by email – glentiestidytown@gmail.com; or by dropping it into the Community Centre office on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. All information needs to be submitted by 28th February.

Community “Text Alert” Information Evening:
An Garda Síochána will host an Information Evening for Community Alert and Neighborhood Watch Groups in The Nesbit Arms Hotel, Ardara, on Wednesday 12th February at 8 p.m

Cardiac Screening Unit:
The Naomh Conaill GAA club is organizing for the mobile cardiac screening unit to visit the club again (depending on numbers). The unit was last here in 2011 and it is recommended that screening be carried out every 2/3 years. The screening is open to both males and females between the ages of 14 and 35 years at a cost of € 45; and is open to club members and non members alike. Bingo every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Every line is € 50, every house is €100. Jackpot if not won will be €1400 on 45 numbers or less on 11/02/2014, if not won on the night €300 will be paid out. In house draws.

Drama for children from 4.15 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday evening.

Snooker room is open from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. every evening and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Landscape Character Assessment – Donegal County Council:
Councillor Terence Slowey would like to inform all landowners and any interested parties that the Central Planning Unit of Donegal County Council is carrying out its first Landscape Charter Assessment. This involves identifying and mapping unique areas within the County, almost like a jigsaw. To do this the Council will be looking at the landscape, seascape, historic landscape and townscapes. Everyone knows the landscape in their own area and at this initial stage the Assessment is to know what the general public consider their landscape to be.

Definition of Landscape
The European Landscape Convention defines landscape as ‘an area, as perceived by people, whose character is the result of the action and interaction of natural and/or human factors’. A landscape consists of all the visible features of an area of land, both natural and artificial such as trees, mountains, rivers, buildings and roads. Landscape is more than just a beautiful view or an area of outstanding natural beauty, it is all landscapes including spoiled areas and ordinary landscapes, a rural area or an urban area.
