Alzheimer’s Tea Day
Alzheimer’s Tea Day takes place on Thursday 6th May in the Glenties Day Centre from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. This is to help raise money for people with Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia. Everyone is welcome and your support would be greatly appreciated.

Dyslexia Classes
Enrolments are now being taken for next year for the evening tuition classes at the Dyslexia Association of Ireland Workshop in Glenties. The classes will cater for dyslexic children with reading, writing and spelling difficulties from ages 7 to 18. To enrol or for further information contact 087 2745178.

Bingo
The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 27th April were – Mary Geasley won the Jackpot of € 400. Siobhan Joyce, Hazel Staunton, Bridie Boyle, Anna Cannon, Kilcar, Maura Kilbane, Ann Mc Dyer, Maas, Maureen Gildea, John Francis Gallagher, Killybegs and James O’ Donnell, Keadue won € 100 each. Bernadette Mc Devitt, Nan Doherty, Dungloe, Brenda Reid, Kathleen Boyle, Kilclooney, Anne Furey, Mary Greene, John Francis Gallagher, Killybegs, Mary Kennedy, Maureen Gildea, Ann Mc Dyer, Maas, Moya Gallagher and Margaret Ryan, Frosses won € 50 each. Margaret Gallagher, Ardara and Frances Furey won € 25 each.

First Holy Communion
Congratulations to the nineteen children who received their First Holy Communion in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 24th April 2010 – Chloe McLoone, Katie Boyle, Emily Mc Devitt, Nathan Mc Dyer, Cian O’Donnell, Declan Sharkey, David Roog, Caoilum Gallagher, Jennifer Furey, Ryan O’ Connell Gallagher, Mark Burke Melly, Ronan Breslin, Bronagh Gallagher, Leo Dunphy, Shaun Byrne, Rachel Marie Mc Loone, Lauren Furey, Leah Mc Innes and James Gildea. Congratulations also to the three children who received their First Holy Communion in The Church of the Holy Family Edeninfagh on Sunday 25th April – Shane Hunter, Nathan Hanlon and Danielle Campbell.

Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to the Mannering Family and all the relatives and friends of Rose Mannering, Gortlosk, Glenties who died last Saturday morning.

Rector’s Challenge
The Rector’s Challenge 60k sponsored Cycle will take place on Saturday 22nd May, leaving Glencolmcille at 11 a.m. proceeding to Ardara, Portnoo, Glenties and finishing at St. Brigid’s Hall, Lettermacaward at approximately 4 p.m. You may accompany the cyclists all the way or join in at any of the points. Anyone wishing to do the ‘Golden Mile’ into Glenties can join in at Charlie Boyle’s Service Station on the Narin Road and go through Glenties to Community Centre, back through Glenties again, leaving the serious cyclists to continue their journey to Lettermacaward via Station Road.

All proceeds from Glenties Cyclists will go to Glenties Parish Church and Glenties Care of the Aged. For further information please contact Ella on 9551295 or Mairead on 9551904.

New Glenties Health Centre
A Public Meeting will be held this on Thursday 6th May at 9.00 p.m. in the Community Centre to discuss the apparent abandonment of the New Glenties Health Centre. It is hoped that Public Representatives will attend.

Collections
Many thanks to everyone who donated to the recent Irish Kidney Collection. The amount collected was € 875.00.
The Annual Church Gate Collection for Multiple Sclerosis taken up recently amounted to €882. 00. Thank you for your very generous contributions.
