Congratulations
Congratulations to Aoife Mc Donnell, (Captain) and the Donegal Ladies Team who won the Bord Gais National League Title on Saturday 8th May when they defeated Kildare in Parnell Park. Aoife is a daughter of Frank and Teresa Mc Donnell, Glen Road, Glenties.
Congratulations also to her sister, Alanah Mc Donnell, Loraine Molloy and Aoife Mc Devitt (Naomh Conaill Ladies), who were on the Donegal Minor Team who defeated Down in the Ulster Final on Saturday 16th May in Truagh, Co. Monaghan. Loraine is a daughter of Hughie and Rose Molloy, Stranaglough, Glenties and Aoife is a daughter of Francie and Rosaleen Mc Devitt, Fintown.
Glenties Area Cyclists
A meeting will be held in the Community Centre, Glenties on Monday 24th May at 9 p.m. to discuss the possibilities for cycling in our area. All interested are invited to attend.
Sale
In support of the 60k Cycle Challenge a Sale of Home Produce, Books and Bric a Brac will be held in the Community Centre on Saturday 22nd May from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
First Holy Communion
Congratulations to the children who received their First Holy Communion in St. Colmcille’s Church, Fintown on Saturday 15th May – Niamh Kelly, Hannah Gibbons, Eva Brennan, Marcus Mc Monagle, Joseph Shanky-Smith and Thomas Long.
Cash for Clobber
St. Riaghan’s National School, Drimnacrosh Cash for Clobber Collection will take place at the school on Thursday 27th May. The school will receive € 4 for each well filled bag (bin liner size). Money collected will go towards school funds. Filled bags can be brought to the school from Monday 24th until Thursday morning 27th May. This collection is part of the Green Schools Initiative that is on-going within the school and is an opportunity to get rid of unwanted clothes, shoes and textiles in an environmental way. Church Gate Collection
Glenties Community Playgroup / Afterschool will hold their Annual Church Gate Collection on Saturday 22nd / Sunday 23rd May. Money collected will go to purchasing equipment / materials needed for the Playschool / Afterschool. Your support will be very much appreciated.
Wedding Bells
Congratulations to Cathal Boyle, Ardconnell, Glenties and Lynda Ward, Burtonport who were married in Burtonport on Saturday last.
Charity Cycling Tour
On the 22nd May the challenging Charity Cycling Tour from Glencolmcille via Ardara, Portnoo and Glenties to Leitir will start with almost 100 Cyclists from all the five involved Parishes. Just Leitir is sending the impressive amount of 30 Cyclists on tour. The finish is at Elliott’s car park at around 3.30 pm and everybody is invited to support our team and of course all the others as well. The final will be celebrated with refreshments for the cyclists and a big “champion” photo shooting. Contact Angela 074 95 44341 for more information.
