Glenties Notes 19th March 2014
Taiji Master Honour:
Congratulations to Charles J. Shovlin from Kilraine, Glenties, who is now a Master Instructor with the World Taiji Boxing Association (WTBA). Charles runs classes on the healing benefit of the ancient arts in the Community Centre, Glenties on Wednesdays from 8.00p.m. – 9.30 p.m.
Bingo:
The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre Glenties on Tuesday 11th March 2014 were – € 25 winners – Rose McGroarty and Margaret Gallagher; € 50 winners – Brenda Reid, Margaret Breslin, Majella Boyle, Kathleen Kenny, Renee McGeehan, Mary Kennedy, Anne Kennedy, Kathleen McGlynn, Phil Mc Kelvey, Breid Gallagher, Philomena Mc Callaig and Margaret Murray, €100 Winners – Bella Boyle, Pauline McGeehan, Lisa Coughlin, Philomena Mc Callaig, Bella Boyle, Jean Boyle, Mickey Herron, Isabelle McLoone and Brid Roarty; €300 winner – Sally McHugh.
“Do This In Memory”
The Parish Based Preparation Programme for First Holy Communion called -“Do This In Memory” will continue next Sunday – 23rd March at 11 a.m. Mass.
Wedding Bells:
Congratulations to Riaghan Byrne, daughter of Gerry and Bried Byrne, Ard Patrick, Glenties and Stephen Mc Hugh, son of Dermot and Nora Mc Hugh, Drimnacrosh, Glenties, who were married in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 15th March 2014. Fr. Adrian Gavigan officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Riaghan was attended by her sister Sinead, cousin Emma Goodwin and friend, Charlie Tierney. Her niece, Rachel Byrne was a flowergirl. The groom’s cousin James Mc Cormack was bestman and friends, Declan Boyle and Eddie Gallagher were groomsmen. The reception was held in Kee’s Hotel, Stranorlar.
Glenties Community Playgroup:
Glenties Community Playgroup is now taking names for children wishing to attend the Pre-School in September 2014. Children who were born between 2nd February 2010 and 30th June 2011 are entitled to one free pre school year. The Free Pre-School Year entitles each child to five 3 hour sessions per week. For all other children there are various discounts available. There will be a follow up Registration in May / June when parents will be asked to attend to formally register their child; children enrolled from 2 years / 10 months onwards.
Afterschool:
There are still some spaces available in the Afterschool on a Thursday from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. – Home Work Club, and Arts & Crafts. If you require any further information please feel free to contact Bridie Mc Cahill or Kellie Bennett 9551907.
Cycling Information Day:
Tír Chonaill GAP Cycling Club will be hosting an Information Day, in the Highland’s Hotel, Glenties on Sunday 23rd March from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. There will be stands catering for all aspects of cycling including Mountain Biking, Leisure Cycling, Bike Maintenance, Ladies Cycling, and Nutrition, to name a few. So for anyone thinking of making use of that bike in the garage, planning to get fitter, or do some exercising, come along on the day where admission is FREE.
Daffodil Day:
Friday 28th March is Daffodil Day Volunteers will be on the Main Street of Glenties looking for your support.
Church Gate Collection:
Cancer Care West Church Gate Collection will take place next weekend.
