Shop & Share:
Message from Maria Rafferty – ‘Shop & Share, Main Street, Glenties supports a Street Children Centre in Jimma called Semaria. We pay the rent; provide food and shelter, clothing and wages, for the workers who care for the children. Before Christmas our children were forced to move from the house they were renting and could only find alternative accommodation in a bigger more expensive one. However thanks to the generosity of the people of Glenties & Edeninfagh Parish, and our other supporters, we were able to find the money required for a half year’s rent. The Christmas story saw Mary and Joseph unable to find a place, so how apt is it that our Crib money this year provided a home for very underprivileged street children. Heartfelt gratitude and prayers flow continuously to us from Ethiopia. Please continue this valuable support and come visit us in the shop’ From Maria and the Team.

Mad MarchHareMountain Bike Event:
Tír Chonaill GAP Cycling Club is pleased to announce that on Sunday 1st March the Mad March Hare Mountain Bike Event makes its welcome return to the hills of Glenties!! The participants have to ride down the steps beside the Garda station in Glenties to start this event in style. The pace will then be controlled up the Glen of Glenties road for three and a half miles. From this point they’re on their own as they turn off the road and start climbing the mountain, a climb sure to make the riders glad when they have reached the top. But there’s no time to relax as they start the first bit of the descent. For the next two miles the riders will have to cross narrow wooden bridges, boardwalk, muddy holes if they can find them, even bigger muddy holes without looking for them, more boardwalk and a final descent guaranteed to put a grin on anyone’s face, if they can hang on. Participants can either do one or two laps, finishing down the steps at the Garda station. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Entry is open to everyone over the age of 14 years with their own bike. If you don’t want to participate come and watch, or maybe help out with marshalling. Registration is at 12.00 noon at Glenties Community Centre. The excitement is Mount`n! For more information contact Hugh McMahon on (087) 2892562.
